La Perouse Precinct fails to resolve on IPART submission

La Perouse Precinct was amongst the few precincts that held its first meeting of the year (after the December/January holiday break) before Council tabled its proposal to seek a permanent 19.85 percent Special Rate Variation (SRV) to IPART.

At its meeting held on 5th February 2016, a vote wa taken to articulate the precinct's position on Council's 2018-21 Rate Increase Survey.  The result was that there were nil votes in favour of Option 3 that Council has adopted in its submission to IPART.

The attempt by an executive of the precinct to articulate the precinct's position at Council's Administrative and Finance Committee meeting on 13th February 2018 was thwarted by the Chairperson.  This is in breach of Council's Code of Meeting Practice.

Despite the precinct's position against Council's proposal to IPART, at yesterday's meeting held on 5th March 2016 it failed to resolve as to a precinct submission to IPART owing to disruptive behaviour by some of the attendees, including the Chairperson of the Administrative and Finance Committee who was there as a Ward Councillor.  This is in breach of Council's Precinct Rules and Procedures.

Notwithstanding, the meeting agreed that the executive write to you, to urge you to make your individual submissions to IPART on the permanent 19.85 percent Special Variation Rate increase application.

Have your say by going on to IPART website:

  www.ipart.nsw.gov.au/Home/Industries/Local-Government/Council-Portal/Submission-Form

and selecting RANDWICK CITY COUNCIL, SPECIAL VARIATION APPLICATION to make your submission.

Alternatively you can email your submissions to:

  localgovernment@ipart.nsw.gov.au

Please note that the submission deadline is one week today, on Tuesday 13th March 2018.  Please do not hesitate to email or contact us on 02 8064 1203 if you need any assistance at all in making your individual submissions.

I certainly will be making my individual submission and including in it my experiences of late with Council's community consultation.

Kind regards,

Jayasooriah
