Dear Residents,

A gentle reminder that we have our precinct meeting tonight.

1.  Council's request for rate increase in excess of 5 percent in the context of 2017-2018 budget surplus in excess of 13 percent.

We need to discuss Precinct's response to Council's proposed rate hikes of an extra 3.22 per cent by way of a Special Variation Request over and above the standard 2.3 per cent bringing the total increase to 5.52 per cent.

It is not clear why the additional rate hike is necessary considering Council has already forecast a budget surplus in excess of 13.3 percent.

2.  General Manager's disapproval of outcome of precinct AGM held on 4th December 2017.

Although I reported that the issue has been resolved, a South Ward Councillor has suggested the General Manager's decision not to apply the two year limit in accordance with the Precinct Rules and Procedures is not fair and that we are asking for special exemption.  This correspondence will be tabled at the meeting.

See you all this evening.

Kind regards,

Jayasooriah
